The work situations I have been in where relationships have completely broken down have all had two things in common:  the main one is that the "boss" had to control every aspect of me and work, this seemed to validate their sense of being a "boss"; the second thing which is destructive is they do not listen.

What have you noticed about the impossible boss?

  • The main thing that used to annoy me at work was it was so unfair.

    I was a teccie, doing difficult computer stuff,

    but the salespeople who used to get drunk and misbehave used to get a lot more money.

    It is much easier to say something is broken and fix it than to do the work,

    But managers seem to get paid more, even if they know less.

    It seem the system is corrupt and always has been, greedy people get to the top then promote other greedy people like them so the honest people dont take over and out them.

    It seems skills are a cost and money is what its all about, anybody who has control of a big pile of money is superior to anybody who is honest and works hard.

    In the end I just found this all too demotivating and I just didnt want to be part of a corrupt system anymore.
