In my experience, it's feeling a lack of life purpose and feeling trapped/restricted by having to participate in societal constructs such as earning money ( I have a full-time job) and feeling like society and other people place so many expectations on you that I often feel "claustrophobic". I like an element of routine but mostly I just feel restricted or controlled by it in some way. I often think of a song lyric from a Smashing Pumpkins song. "Despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage".
