animals are cool, kind, and reliable ---- tell us your good experiences

here a girl is reunited with the donkey she raised. I love the smell and strength of donkeys and horses.

I love all animals.

  • Gorgeous. Animals really do connect somewhere that can never be replaced ey. Have always felt closer to animals than humans. Well, kinda think now my son has arrived its a little different, thats a love I hadn't known before. But I still miss my cats every day as well, its been over 20 years!

  • For eight years the beautiful girl pictured above worked as a Therapy Dog in schools, hospitals, prisons and elsewhere, specialising in working with people on the autism spectrum.  She came from Battersea and was very special. In January, it will be three years since she died, and I think of her every day.  Every damned day.  We have a new guy now, also from Battersea, pictured below.  They look similar but their personalities are completely different.  He has been mistreated and is very wary of people, so he'll never work as a Therapy Dog.  But he's loyal, affectionate and happy with us, and we love him to bits.

  • I love ducks and swans and geese. I feel like they are my friends. I go to feed them every day I get the chance. They eat out of my hand and are so friendly and tame. I get to know the same ones when I go each time and im sure they recongise me sometimes too. They are so lovely and calming

  • I'm not really a fan of animals, I find them really scary Disappointed

For starters I can't hear them coming so they always take me by surprise and then there fur makes my hands feel all funny.

    So not really a fan.

  • Hi Aidie.
I love my cat Winnie. I am undiagosed for autism at present but waiting for my first doctors appointment.

My cat Winnie is a little nutcase lol. She's a (nearly) 7 year old part Bombay cat that came to me through the RSPCA. I've had her since she was 8 months old and she is definitely one of my best friends. She's a little skittish and not keen on being picked up, but she's quite happy sitting between my legs, with her head on my ankle when I am sitting on my bed. She's also very playful and likes nothing better than playing with her catnip fish, climbing pole and my feet when I am walking round the house. She always seems to know when I am feeling unwell, due to my other medical conditions and will barely move away from me until I feel better again.

She's also very sweet as well and will spend pretty much every minute of the day with me, unless she's eating, drinking or I am at work. As soon as she hears my voice she will start meowing for either food, dreamies or fuss. She's a little unsure of my parents, especially my poor Dad who she now tolerates - but we think she was mistreated by a large male before she was put up for adoption. It's taken her a good 4 years before she allowed Dad to stroke her fully, but she does enjoy playing with his shoes/laces and will occasionally rub up against his feet when he is sitting down in the living room.

I also own a stubborn 6 year old Leopard Gecko called Leo, who I bought on my actual birthday (which is late July - hence the Leo as it's my zodiac sign). He's not keen on being handled, but will quite happily try and snatch live locusts from my hand, a couple of Corn Snakes, Inca (my oldest reptile at almost 8 years old), is a gentle snake, unless she can smell mouse, then she's a different story. Aztec (7 years old) who you enter his vivarium with gloves and long sleeves if you want to put water into his bowl or tempt him with a mouse. My invertebrates are my tarantulas, Truffle (Chilean Gold Burst), Holly (Mexican Red Knee) and Chaos II (Chaco Golden Knee) and my African Land Snails Birch and Oak.

I am hopefully getting another Russian Dwarf Hamster in the New Year, as my previous hamster Bonnie (who was very sweet, cute and tame) died when she was 2 1/2 years old. I am looking forward to getting another little furry hamster friend soon.

    Mweekie xx

  • I used to have a dog called Blossom. She was a golden retriever and she was gorgeous, by far my favourite pet ever!

I used to love taking her for walks. We did so much together and she was always there when I needed her. My true beat friend. She was also really playful and happy. The day she was put down I was destroyed. I still miss her now but I'm thankful for my memories of her.

  • Ha ha! He's a "he" and yes, he is well aware of the fact that he's handsome!!!

  • i love your dog. he/she looks very smart !

  • I have a jet black German Shepherd (profile pic) who makes every single day better, smilier, and more active.

Our previous dog looked very similar but was a *** (oh dear, moderation has taken out the perfectly correct word for a female dog, so fill this bit in yourself!).  She had a different character; she worked for years as a therapy dog, in special schools, childrens' hospitals and even youth offender units.

We are only just beginning to realise what our precious relationship with dogs can do for us.

The emerging science on this is amazing.  A hospital consultant said (of our therapy dog) "for about 50% of my patients, and for about 50% of the time, she is cheaper than drugs, safer than drugs, faster-acting than drugs, and longer-acting than drugs".

She said that in front of a large audience.  I was welling-up at the back of the room(!)

  • it must be fun when you visit your dad Slight smile

  • i have a little maltipoo named sonic & he is a dude. mah dude. also my uncle max has the tiniest dog ever gizmo & he is so adorable. His other dog, however,(Goldie) is quite the opposite. She is so big she could dance with me. LOL

  • i saw a yellow dragon fly today. they are really mesmerising the noise of their wings is like a real helicopter

  • so nice, thanks for this u picked my day up ----- so positive

  • Store Cat used to scratch everyone, including me. He was feral when we got him from Cat's protection. I'd had a feral kitten when I was a child so not bothered by the scratches. I worked there for six years. Was sad to leave. Made a visit about a year later, saw the cat and scooped him up and let him sit on the crook of my arm as I always used to do. At first he looked at me like 'who the hell is this picking me up' then he realised it was me, and he gave me a good snuggle before jumping down.

  • Birds of prey are like floating graceful reminders of the natural world, cats are beautiful gentle calming companions, dogs are often too much activity for me to handle, horses too. But generally, being as we are part of the animal world, but have somehow the world of man has forgotten this, I feel our connection to animals is a vital, spiritual, innate connection we gain more from than we could ever measure

  • i hope i helped. contact me again tomorrow ping me in PM system or here
