Good day,
I am a mum of an autistic son (Asperger's), and we currently live in Bermuda. My son has 2 more years of secondary school and we are looking to move back to the UK at that time so he can begin university and study animation. We are strongly considering Sheffield Hallam University because we understand the programme is very good, it is close to our family, and I will be (hopefully) beginning my doctoral studies at the University of Sheffield (Autism education).
I was wondering if anyone might be able to help us answer a few questions:
1) I have heard that their support for autistic students is very good. I would love to hear from those who have attended. Did you feel well supported by the school?
2) My son also has severe dyscalculia and has been exempted from high school mathematics. As an autistic person who has other learning disabilities, would you recommend that he apply for the programme with the foundation year? Or would do you think he could get by without it? My husband and I were thinking that it may help him with transitioning to university?
3) Has anyone studied animation at Sheffield Hallam? If so, what was the programme like?
Thank you so very much!
