Masking and Unmasking

I find this video really interesting......what do you all think of this?

I want to hear from everyone....but female peeps, especially please chime in. I rarely bring up gender. I feel equal...I demand respect-I don't need to talk about it or try for it.

However, I think there is a universal reaction that when a man is direct--he's respected/taken well......when a woman is direct--she's a ***/intimidating/not taken well.

I feel like I've ignored this fact in my past...and have thought in the past that people should be evolved enough to not take it that way---and yet I tend to get specific reactions....mostly negative, some positive/respectful. Sometimes starts as negative and warms up to positive over time.

Thoughts?

  • I actually don't have the time to watch the video, but based on what you've said, I found out  last week that two of my managers are really difficult because they might be afraid of me. I'm Female, Australian as well as possibly Autistic (still waiting on assessment) so I don't like mucking around. If a job needs doing, I expect to either do it, or get the information in a prompt manner so I can get it done as soon as possible. Unfortunately my managers give me a lot of half answers and vague responses and rather than simply whinge about it to my colleagues like everyone else seems to do, I chase it up and point out when things aren't handled appropriately.  Which of course gets me in trouble.
