ear plugs - wax or foam?

i'm super noise sensitive --- in terms of ear plugs, the things you jam into your ear canal, has anyone found a preference for wax vs foam ones? the foam ones i've seen on amazing-on have the highest NRR of 33db. i've always had trouble inserting them into my ear canals, but just heard about yanking your ear back before you jam the foam in... the moldable wax ones have a significantly lower NRR of 23db... they seem more comfortable. tho.

anyone have good or bad experiences with either? i suppose it may boil down to personal preference, but the higher NRR sounds good. i guess i'm wondering if that is achieved in a lab......... not in a human ear, but the same could be said for the lower NRR of waxies.

i already have head phones, ear muffs, etc... i'd like something i can easily just carry in a pocket, but which is effective.

  • i use rubber reusables ones ---- rubber cone shape that has 3/4 seals around it available on amazon/ebay 1-2 quid

    They come in a plastic box. I put Baby bum cream (zinc) all over  them and store them in the box in my pocket. 

    Then when, needed the cream helps to get them in , create a really good seal, prevent infections, and they are easy to remove.

    When u take them out, clean them, and recover in baby bum cream again 

    Good side effect : they keep ur ears clear of wax and infection

    i sometimes wear them, then put on set of ear defenders with a built in radio at full blast. no more outside noise :)

    just broke a nail damn !

    are you worried about being mugged or hit by a car, since you can't hear a thing? when i wear my phones, i am careful; but i'm aware i could slip up. i figure if i'm not careful, some car could wallop me. it happens even to the normal pedestrian.....you just get hit by a car, they drive off. to me, this is a real possibility -- if i'm not careful and mindful that i can't hear at all..........

    i have always liked the term quid... i had to look it up --- wow, it's $12 usd!!! i thought quid would be a portion of a pound....

    a quid = 1 pound  its a bit like the word "buck" for 1 dollar
