Something I don't get about neurotypicals...

Something that really baffles and annoys me about neurotypicals is that they are so tribal, and they tend to make decisions collectively. Eg they collectively reject people, they collectively have the same hobbies, wear the same clothes etc and they operate in groups. This is something that has always baffled me because I make my own decisions and form my own opinions. I don't understand why neurotypicals are so obsessed with fitting in to a group.

  •  forming communities and following groups or ‘the pack’ is how we went from wild animals to fire building, farm growing, water irrigating societies.

every mammal and even fish that work in packs seem to be better off for it too.

Nt have made so many complexities to the group dynamic and it can be difficult to follow along certainly, i agree with you i think , just offering a different persepective for it

I mean, i dont like certain group dynamics but i dont like being lonely either, i think a lot of them feel the same, like im saying its hardwired into the survival instinct, having that group that community, betters your odds so they would feel hurt without it....plus i think it can help them maintain empathy, a lot of humans seem to struggle with empathy these days so i think its good that they be forced to interact with people who they would hurt if they never met.

That's true but I think some of the better tribes had great morals, looked out for each other and had wise elders to guide them through difficult times. The native Americans for example.

The problem we have now is we don't have community and we are sending our kids out everyday from 2 yrs old to essentially learn from other kids in school or the playground. Until recently, it was the whole family or tribe who brought up the kids, giving them a sense of identity, stability and security. No wonder many of us are growing up with all sorts of problems today with very little sense of who we are.

  • My thoughts, exactly.

  • Certainly, though that further exemplifies the importance of the group, no group our a misguided group struggles, a group that truly helps each other grow and looks out for each other is optimal.

we all functioned better when we had small communities where we had to help each other because if the doctor didn't genuinely do the most to help the cattle carer/herder (whats the word lol?)  when he was ill then the town would have no beef or dairy.

tell a few thousand people that they get to be big government officials who control 8 billion or so people, and then tell individual citizens if they scam each other they can become richer ....and well the whole thing falls apart and each generation of kids ends up worse off than the last

  • Schools have become counterproductive, as far as I'm concerned.

That's because The State knows best.    Learn from your Big Brother.  Smiley

  • So very, very true.
