Stressed, worried that neighbour will be noisy again

The neighbour was really noisy last night (see other thread). I am worried there will be a repeat, and it is making me stressed, as if I were not stressed enough.

How can I reassure myself? The thing is, that uncontrollable noise makes me stressed. If I can control the noise, it is fine. If I know when it will start and finish, it is bearable. But if it can't be controlled, or it occurs at  an unacceptable  time, I get stressed.

  • I don't like the Summer much for the same reason as you Scorpion.

In the past, when I lived in a flat, I did sometimes try a pollite note asking them to turn it down and saying something like "you probably don't realise just how thin the walls are" but it has on occasions lead to an angry response, I don't know why.  I was in a constant state of anxiety and waiting for it to start.  I did eventually manage to get out. Now it doesn't happen often and when it does I can usually get away from it into another room, or it it not so loud that I cannot drown it out with some radio.

The worst time recently was when I had builders. I didn't have the courage to ask them to turn it down, even though I was paying them!!
