Recent Diagnosis

Hi. To the point, I've just turned 46 and just been diagnosed as be autistic. This has made me think a lot about everything but I'm having trouble making sense of it all. Not sure where to start to be honest. I was told that trying to talk to other adults might help.

  • Hi

Sounds very familiar. I'm 47 and like you recently diagnosed. The diagnosis process had me looking back into the past and remembering a lot of things I'd rather not remember. I'm having to reevaluate my life and try to make sense of my past. This forum helps as I see parts of my own experiences mirrored in other peoples. Especially where I see a behaviour that I'd not picked up on before.

The difficulty I have now is working out just what I'm going to do with this new information I have.

To be clear I feel much better that I have for a long time but sometimes feel loss and morn for the life I could have had. This is ridiculous as I have a good life and who knows where I would have ended up with a earlier diagnosis.
