I was wondering if anyone is in any Facebook or private groups with females who have been diagnosed as adults?
I'm newly diagnosed aged 38.
It would be lovely to share insights/experiences and be able to learn some coping mechanisms.
I don't really have anyone else to speak to who understands even just silly day to day stuff.
Thanks
No problem
Hello I'm 31 years old and I have a diagnosis of atypical autism
Feel free to add me as a friend on Facebook
sounds good, thanks DuckBread
many thanks Oscie
Hi! It's not a Facebook group, but I'd really recommend checking out Purple Ella's YouTube channel. She shares lots of her experiences and has some great tips for coping mechanisms. Her subscribers are a very friendly community too
Hi Kitty, if you go on the Services Directory on the main NAS site, you can filter your search to what you are looking are looking for and the location. Good luck
I'm a newly diagnosed 43 year old female and would be interested in any groups on Facebook or elsewhere too!
Many thanks Zatanna, I am on the case!
Hi Oscie,
I found the infomation hard to find too, try this link https://www.autism.org.uk/services/community/group/england.aspx
for problems with this directory@nas.org.uk
Try emailing the faciltator for your nearest county, there might not be a female group for each county, they might be mixed groups.
I'm currently taking part in live zoom meetings with my local group, we're doing quiz nights which are fun. a couple of new members have joined our meetings recently, so maybe it's possible for you to join a local meeting too
Hope this helps
Hi Zatanna,
Could you please tell me where to find the information about these groups, I'm finding it difficult to locate it. I am hoping to go to a social group when I can.
Many thanks.
I usually go to my local female autism group run by the National Autistic Society. I know groups can't meet at the moment though, It's been very usefull for me. maybe try looking in the future
I agree that Facebook can make you feel depressed (for me seeing other people being more succesful than me), but I have found groups of people with a similar interest are generally good to be part of. They will usually have some drama but you can just ignore it
https://wordpress.com
About 2 thirds of websites are based on Wordpress.
There are lots of Auties with great blogs using Wordpress.
You get proper support with a real life team.
I've never heard of WordPress... I'll have a look thanks.
Are there any particular groups on there you would recommend or that I should look out for?
There are other much nicer places you could use.
For example - Wordpress.
Facebook will pick up on your primal fears and amplify them. Algorithm bias will just make things worse. Avoid it like plague or Covid 19 - it’s pure evil.
