Sainsbury's disability helpline

Hello.

I am new here so I hope I am doing this right.

With all the changes with people and places I am having a really hard time. As well as Asperger's with savant traits I have persistent depressive disorder plus PTSD along with degenerative disc disease. It is hard to manage at the best of times. Over the past 2-3 weeks I have suffered days of meltdowns when out vs staying in bed. I have found the local shops a nightmare.

Each month I would put together an online shop with Tesco or Sainsbury's. This, as most of us find, will not be forthcoming anytime soon. After spending a week of trying to get through I was amazed to speak to someone at Sainsbury's this evening. What I have found out might be of use to others so thought best to share here. The chap told me that all slots are being booked for elderly and those with an chronic illness. My above conditions didn't meet the criteria. He recommended I try Click n Collect - he said there wouldn't be a need to join the big queue to get in as it is set for pick up at a certain time slot. He also said someone else can collect it on your behalf. The Click n Collect can not be sent to different stores. I will definitely give it a try. Like so many of us we need the same foods as taste and textures are a big deal to us.

I hope this will help some of you

  • Hi! Welcome to the group Slight smile

I know what you mean about the supermarkets - I'm really struggling with them too. Thanks very much for sharing your advice. I'm also having more meltdowns lately; I think it's due to all the change going on at the moment.

I hope you find the forum helpful - I've found that people here are very friendly and willing to listen/offer advice.

  • Hello, many thanks. I am now going to stay away from shops. It will only get worse as the peak hits I fear. The meltdowns floor me so end up in bed for days. I have reached out to my postman who I have gotten to know over the years. He said he would step in if this other friend can't. What a lovely lovely fella. His younger brother is Autistic so he totally understands. Anyway i am going on a bit now. Hahaha. Love your username btw. X

  • That sounds like a good idea - if you can get what you need without having to go into the shop, it's definitely worth saving yourself the stress. Your postman sounds lovely Slight smile You're not going on at all - don't worry Slight smile Haha, thank you! I'm a big fan of ducks X
