Sainsbury's disability helpline

Hello.

I am new here so I hope I am doing this right.

With all the changes with people and places I am having a really hard time. As well as Asperger's with savant traits I have persistent depressive disorder plus PTSD along with degenerative disc disease. It is hard to manage at the best of times. Over the past 2-3 weeks I have suffered days of meltdowns when out vs staying in bed. I have found the local shops a nightmare.

Each month I would put together an online shop with Tesco or Sainsbury's. This, as most of us find, will not be forthcoming anytime soon. After spending a week of trying to get through I was amazed to speak to someone at Sainsbury's this evening. What I have found out might be of use to others so thought best to share here. The chap told me that all slots are being booked for elderly and those with an chronic illness. My above conditions didn't meet the criteria. He recommended I try Click n Collect - he said there wouldn't be a need to join the big queue to get in as it is set for pick up at a certain time slot. He also said someone else can collect it on your behalf. The Click n Collect can not be sent to different stores. I will definitely give it a try. Like so many of us we need the same foods as taste and textures are a big deal to us.

I hope this will help some of you

  • Apparently I am not even though I recieved enhanced rate for PIP. I will see how my click n collect adventures go.

Anyway nice of you to reply. Slight smile Before the lockdown hit I was walking 8 different dogs. All sorts of breeds too. Now I am down to 1 every Wednesday. I am finding it really hard to cope as I am missing them all so much.

I am a fan of Titan, Raqib Shaw and a fair number of the Pre Raphaelite greats.

Do share how you get on with your own Pollock creation. X

  • Hey I'm the same, I get PIP enhanced rate and have always had ASDA home delivery to help. ASDA are usually great at helping but this crisis has really made me think about supermarkets - they've done nothing to screen those who book delivery slots besides giving priority to those who are classed extremely vulnerable with my GP says I'm not. Iceland apparently do screen people but I've still had issues getting a slot. As said in another post, after speaking with the Royal Voluntary Society today I hope to work with a volunteer with them to get me in a shop.
