Medication?

Both myself and my husband were diagnosed fairly recently. For years he’s had what ?I now think are autistic meltdowns which are very scary for me. I’ve been researching and Abilify seems to sometimes be used to help. I’m not sure though whether a GP can prescribe this or whether it has to be a psychiatrist? The mental health team have refused to let him see a phyciatrist

  • Hello Wave

Congratulations on getting your diagnosis.I never heard of Abilify so Googled it to get some background.

How did you hear about it?

I read conditions it is used for here (American site):

    www.webmd.com/.../details

And an overview of it from ‘Mind uk’ here:

    www.mind.org.uk/.../

I am on Citalopram for anxiety/depression but that was prescribed pre ASD diagnosis so I’ve been gearing up to getting a medication review with my GP.

Am not very good at organising appointments though Tired face

I’ll be interested in the feedback your question gets...
