Accepting ASD

Hi, I haven't been formally diagnosed as having ASD. But as being a teacher, I can see that I 100% have it. Most of the people I grew up with knew I had something but didn't want to accept it. I just feel because of this, I have quite a bad relationship with it. Is there anything any of you can recommend to help me? As I do really need to improve my relationship with ASD and the social problems I face with it.

Thanks :)

  • Hey, I wasn't diagnosed until my mid-teens (a year ago) and it took me some time to accept my diagnosis and realize that they are both positives and negatives to being autistic. I also really struggle with social situations and it causes me quite a lot of anxiety. It really helps me to have sensory items/toys and teddy bears with me when I go out. I like to sometimes research conversation starters to help me know what to say in conversations. What social situations do you specifically struggle with as this would help to give some more clear advice?
