Moved to a new shared apartment

Hello,

I am 30 years old and  recently diagnosed with Autism.

It is a month I have moved to a new shared student housing which I have a private room with shared common area/ bathroom/ kitchen.

I am so anxious to go out of my room and use bathroom or kitchen. It is been terrible with noises as well but I soundproofed my door two days ago. What can I do? Some days I can locked up in my room for 13 hours and it is painful for me.

  • I’ve been in a similar situation, and what helped me was figuring out the quiet times when no one else was around to use the kitchen or bathroom. It made things a lot less stressful, and I could just do my thing without worrying about bumping into anyone. If I did run into someone, I’d keep it super simple—just a quick “hey” or a nod to keep it short.
If this setup keeps feeling too much, you could think about moving to a quieter place with more privacy. I’ve seen places like axonproperties.ca that offer private student rentals, and it might be worth checking out if you’re looking for something less hectic and more your speed.
