Waiting 20 Months for an Assessment

I would suggest writing to your MP here... 20 months is unacceptable.

I was seen just over a year ago. i don't even know what the result is and have been passed to the ADHD bit where the psychologist is not sure. So i am about 16 months in and no idea yet what I'll get out of it.

Hi. I'm on the waiting list for an autism diagnosis too (I've been waiting for 14 months now). 

I think it's definitely worth getting on the waiting list for an autism diagnosis - it's worth knowing that you have the right diagnosis so that you can access the best support for you (it's probably possible to have both conditions too, so that'd be worth discussing with the diagnostic team who assess you for autism).

If you can afford a private assessment, that's probably worth investigating. I can't, so it's the NHS route for me. In the meantime, I'm just trying to learn more about autism so I can try out some coping strategies for things like sensory issues.

I would suggest you ask what specific  difference a diagnosis will make for you. Both schizophrenia and autism have many shared symptoms

I would get yourself on the waiting list. It is painfully long, I know. Autism is probably a less scary thing to have than schizophrenia to be honest.

Agreed  :) Costs about £2K

Maybe consider a private referral. It maybe money well spent
