Work - home transition

How do you transition between work and home? It usually takes me few hours to go into “home mode” after work and when I finally start to relax it’s already time to go to bed. At work I need about 1-2 hours to go fully into “work mode” (I can’t really focus on work until I had my morning coffee break) but “work mode” to “home mode” is more difficult, probably because I’m more stressed after work. Work itself is ok but I find working with one of my coworkers very difficult and stressful - unfortunately there’s no way to avoid working with that person unless I change job, which is something I’m thinking about at least once a week (but don’t really want to do it) Anyway, I keep telling myself: relax, don’t care, it doesn’t matter what’s happened at work, you’re at home now, enjoy. But it’s not working.

  • I walk favourite quite routes daily  during summer I was walking ten miles a day and all by my self I would sing out loud and dance , plus I had wonderful ideas inventions on my walks but that’s another post .

I cycle too but off road as I just can’t stand the busy roads .

  • I am starting to walk to the shop, it's part of my Slimming World regimen as well.

  • I take time to be still and relax. Plus, I pray most mornings, after I get up.

Surrendering the car has liberated me because I felt compelled to drive whenever I'm bored. Now, I spend more time doing things that nourish my soul. Just this afternoon, I mopped the floor and cleaned the bath and shower with the same mop. Bish, bash, bosh! Slight smile

  • I have always found physical exercise to be the best remedy for stress ,I has literally saved my life ,not always possible but can you fit in to your routine cycling to work and back this is my way of changing from work to home and is the best therapy ever   ,all depends on your circumstances of course, hope this helps you .

  • i apply the "Art of Doing Nothing". look it up. its a useful mindset to use in work. (zen)

  • good for you

  • I had a three-day-a-week contract job last year - between Halloween and Christmas. It helped develop a better routine for myself. However, come the new year, I was applying for jobs left, right and centre, using my line manager from that job as a reference. In the end, I got no employment, and I had a meltdown.

Now, I'm rebuilding my life. I decided - two months ago - to quit driving. And, last week, I sold my car for £2,900. I got the money for it - via bank transfer - on Thursday evening. Plus, back in May, I was hospitalised after a potential sensory overload.
