Propranolol

so I’ve been prescribed propranolol for anxiety and I currently only take them when I’m about to do something that makes me anxious or if I’m randomly anxious. This is currently not often due to the fact I currently do nothing, stay in my room on Xbox or pc. My questions is should I carry on only taking as and when I need or start taking regularly. If yes why and what’s your experience with them?

Thanks guys.

  • Certainly double check with your GP, but I found it helpful to just take them as the need arose and I'm fairly sure my GP suggested this (although this was now a very long time ago).  Over time what I also found was that I could build up other strategies to help with my anxiety and the propanalol could be tapered off.  I went through a phase of hardly using it but having it in my pocket just in case, then there was a period of around a year where I carried it round, just for the reassurance of knowing it was there if I needed it.  Now I can't remember the last time i needed it.
