I have negative coping mechanisms for dealing with sadness and anxiety:
‘’daydreaming excessively
spending excessive hours on my ipad
staying in bed all day
positive coping mechanisms:
listening to quiet music’
spending a short amount of time watching tv or on ipad
going to the gym
taking a walk
calling a friend.
what are your coping mechanisms?
I ‘I really want to start working again but find working so stressful and trying to find out what coping mechanisms might help.
Mine are;
Drinking tea. I also make tea automatically when other people are upset and feel stressed until I have done so. (apparently I am a walking English stereotype)
Petting an animal (usually one of my snakes)
Watching an aquarium or ant farm for a few minutes (I have an ant farm at work on my desk)
Listening to an audiobook (ideally on a long walk)
Being in a natural space (in a wood or a park or by a pond)
Playing a short, relaxing game (lots of free ones online; if you google orisinal games there are loads on there that work well, I like bubble bees and the hatchings and winterbells).
"bubble bees"?-I want one!
