Received my diagnosis

Congratulations on getting the diagnosis letter.

ICD-10 is commonly used in the UK and many European countries instead of DSM-5. My diagnosis report (from a couple months ago) also said Asperger Syndrome, with a comment afterwards saying that it also now simply called autism.

The ICD10 does have Aspergers -  often stated on the diagnosis as 'Autism with an Aspergers profile' or something similar. 

Your psychologist/psychiatrist may choose to use Aspergers.  ICD 10 is usually used in the UK rather than the DSM.  

Don't worry about it, it doesn't change what you are diagnosed with and you can choose to say you are Autistic, or you are on the Autism Spectrum, or you have Aspergers Syndrome or you are an 'aspie'.  Your preference although many choose not to say they 'have' autism but are 'autistic'  since autism is not something you 'have' like a disease,  but being autistic is something you 'are'.

My (private, but same centre as NHS) diagnosis was last year, and was Aspergers under ICD-10. It appears some areas are still using that; others have switched entirely to DSM-5
