Finding the right type of help

I've sat here for 10 mins so far trying to make a coherent sentence. Finding help is something I want but can't find, so far no one has been able to connect through private people. My doctor says a diagnosis is at least a year away, maybe longer. Bright sunny days and my noise cancelling ear phones are paradise to me. My family understand but .... argh I've run out of words and find it difficult to express further. Reading the other posts is good, as I'm not the only one, but also I'm sad that people are suffering without the correct help.

  • It is often difficult to explain things in words. Finding the right type of help is not easy either. Many of us have struggled with it before, during and after diagnosis.

You could try a Google search for 'autism support' and include the name of places close to you. This was how I found a group close to where I live. I have been twice now and like the atmosphere and the people there.

Good that you find some reassurance in being part of this forum. I know what you mean about the sadness of hearing about suffering. It affects me a lot too. Just shows what a ridiculous idea it is to suggest autistic people don't have empathy.

Nice to meet you. I am glad you persevered and posted this.
