Hi all, im new on here, just need some advice for a friend of mine, hes middle aged and had a very troubled life, thinks he may be autistic, i think so too, any advice on getting an adult diagnosis?

  • Hi, yeah I am in a very similar position, been told I am autistic by a councellor who's not qualified to diagnose it. Would very much like an actual diagnosis, either way. Plan to go to the GP, I know someone who has fone this and managed to get diagnosed but I am very nervous about this my GP's tend to be very dismissive, after any hints for how to get them to take me seriously that I can get

    With my friend he's done online autism questionnaires and had lots of people dropping hints, nothing direct unfortunately, I think what your counsellor did was a good thing, I wish my friend had somBlushne be direct with him, would of saved him a lot of grief, I think persistance with your GP and recognising the traits is key
