Please share your 'Thought of the Day'

Saw this sign on Twitter just now and thought "That actually makes sense, I should take better care of my self!"

Please share your Thought of the Day - it can be anything you like - quote, poetry, proverb, photo, cartoon, drawing, joke.          - it will be fascinating to see what everyone chooses.

P.S. If you can't see the photo this is what the sign says:

"Don't forget....    Drink water

and get some sunlight,

because you're basically a

house plant with more

complicated emotions."

  • Yes.  Bread,  means money.

The graffiti was actually in the toilets in the main Birmingham university library.  This is a relatively clean example. Some of the doors and partition walls were vandalized with obscene  jokes all over the place.

  • Took me a while to realise that 'bread' means 'money' - am I right about this? I don't always understand jokes!

  • Saw this written on a toilet wall.

    LIFE IS LIKE A     S H I T     SANDWICH.

THE MORE BREAD YOU HAVE, THE LESS    S H I T    YOU EAT.

  • Very probably! (I loved that story as a child, also Goldilocks and the Three Bears)

  • Might Hans Christian Andersen's pea-averse Princess have suffered with sensory integrative dysfunction?

  • Another thought for today..,

  • Thank you for sharing this! It reminds me of a saying  someone told me: if you are over 50 and you wake up and don't feel any pain you are dead!" Pain can be a warning too - I've done damage in the past by pushing on through it. That's why I'm obeying doctor's orders today and resting my injured ankle!

  • See what you mean - I suppose I interpret this quote as it's never too late for me to be the true ASD self I would have been if I hadn't had to put on masks. My masks are slipping already and I'm only part way through the diagnostic process. I feel much more myself already!

  • A quote I often use - even with my kids:

"Pain is good.  Pain is your friend.  Pain will keep you alert.  But do you know the best thing about pain? It let's you know that you're not dead yet!"

  • On the subject of laziness found this great cartoon... really connected with this - hope you like it too!

  • I worry that it looks at a previous version of self rather than the self you are now.

  • Great quote Tom - this is on the wall of one of my workplaces and I always feel encouraged when I read it.

  • Thank you Anna! I was inspired by Perdu who put a quote in another thread.

Love both quotes you've shared. First one reminds me of another saying "change is growth". Swimming against the tide is something most of us have done, and it gets very tiring, so it's good to be reminded it's a sign we're alive!

Looking back on my life I've definitely taken the road less travelled. As you say it's important to celebrate this, not feel like we've failed. Perhaps we should rebrand the saying 'Vive La Difference' (long live the difference) to refer to Neurodiversity!

  • I have a sticker on my tablet cover which reads ""Today, be the badass girl you were too lazy to be yesterday" ;o)

  • Funny, but just before I came to the site this morning, I read a quote that I wanted to share:

It's never too late to be what you might have been.

    George Eliot

    There's some hope in that.

  • I love it! Thanks Sunflower...

    Two quotes springs to mind...

"If you do what you've always done, you'll have what you've always had."

and "Only dead fish swim with the tide..."

I guess the meaning behind both is similar in that they're encouraging us to go against the flow, try new things, not always take the easiest route but perhaps try the more interesting ones in life from time to time? And perhaps they're reinforcing the message that it's OK to be different...It should even be celebrated :o)

    Enjoy your day! Anna x

  • wow! I love the quote. Its a good reminder since most of us always tend to assume some things in life and are crucial

  • “The one who follows the crowd will usually go no further than the crowd. The one who walks alone is likely to find themselves in places no one has ever been before.” Albert Einstein
