Clothes shopping?

I struggle to find clothes I like for work (senior, professional, female)

Of course, I hate shopping in a shopping centre. Online shopping is much better but it's still difficult. The filters are about colours and patterns - where I'll have at least some preferences, nothing too bright...  What I'm really looking for is something comfortable - so would love to be able to filter by material as well. Suits just don't work for me and as a woman the dress code is more flexible than suit and tie thankfully)

I've researched personal shoppers online. I don't want to go round the shops with one. And online services tend to be limited to a small number of couture brands. Or are very focused on personal style and image. Rather than something that looks fine while being comfortable and practical.

At the moment I cope by spending time looking through online shops and infrequently finding something I like. But I'm time poor.

That leads to three questions:

- Does any else struggle with this?

- Does anyone know of a good online personal shopping service that might work?

- Would anyone be interested in doing the research for me for a modest fee?!

  • Thought the Debenhams idea was great.

Not sure this will be acceptable? Supermarkets have really upped their game as far as clothing ranges are concerned - Tesco superstores (F&F), Sainsbury's (Tu), Asda (George) and some bigger supermarkets have excellent ranges of clothes.  Lots open till late/24 hours or go very early, so you can go when it's not busy. Fabric technology has moved on and I've found that they have surprisingly decent feel to what looks like work wear or smart casual items.  Some flexibility on sizing too, eg: trouser length.  You could look online first and then go in store to check quality?

Next Directory catalogue is quite good for quality and price.

I find ebay too random...unless I have something in my wardrobe that I love that has completely worn out, then I look for exactly the same brand, size style, to replace it Relaxed

    Good luck.

  • Thanks - I’ve considered and done that before. I’m time poor but cash rich - I want someone else to search out clothes for me. I don’t have time to do the rounds of the shops - whether it’s at midnight or during the day.

Im not looking for trousers or suits which limits the need to check in store a lot. It’s floaty tops, dresses and skirts, especially with summer coming up.

ebay is a great suggestion for looking for what I’ve already got and like but is getting worn :)
