When I posted this I suspect I might need some tablets, the gp's will never give em liquid form.
However due to me getting a referal they decided give me the antibiotics in liquid form, probably helped when I said I I'd been eating painkiller's and it made me ill, last time they give me a script.
I just can't get them down, it just induces a gag reflex.
I couldn't swallow tablets at all when I was younger, my mum used to crush them up into a powder and mix them in with juice, it tasted foul but it was better then trying to swallow them whole. I can take them now if they are coated, those dry powdery ones make me gag but I can force myself to take them if I have to (although I tend to break them into smaller bits now still)
Hiya,
Im not on the spectrum but i find tablets a no go area!! its def a mental thing, its like the simple thought of it makes my throat close up. I have never been able to swallow tablets and have had many dickie fits in the doctors because its too much hard work for them to find an alternative!
I tend to stick to soluble or disolvable ones. Medicine can be too foul to keep down. Its funny that they can make medicine for kids taste nice yet for adults its worse than drinking acid (as far as i can imagine!!)
So your not alone, im sure there are loads of us who CANT take tablets. I dont think its a choice of cant/wont i simply cant take tablets, it just wont go down and the thought of it makes me gag!
