Hello,
I'm a self-diagnosed female. I've been reading about Asperger's for a long time now and eventually decided to join this forum after watching Chris Packham's documentary the other day.
Hopefully i'll be on the same wavelength as some of you here. Nice to meet you all
I only wanted someone to chat to, not advice. We are talking about a man of 62, who is a self employed businessman doing very well in the world in all other ways. He would refuse to take such a test and be highly insulted if I suggested it. And it would not be worth his while to take time off of work unpaid to discuss this with doctors etc. He is a very knowledgeable and educated person, having a diagnosis would not help him at all, only mean his work and income suffer.
Welcome. Get him to take an AQ50 test, followed by an EQ test. One or the other of those should provide enough ammunition for a conversation...
Hi.l Not sure if this post is in the right place. It is my first post and wishing you all a happy and good new year for 2018. I am a lady who has been dating/seeing a man who I believe has aspergers, though he was never officially diagnosed with it. Am finding it very hard and cannot talk to him about it at all, he either clams up and looks scared or says silly things which are not at all helpful. Would be good to chat to others.
thankyou
Hi Lucy, there are lots of knowledgeable people on here who can help you with any questions you might have. And there are also plenty of people here with young children, so they will understand the process you are going through at the moment. I've read quite a bit about Asperger's but i'm very much still learning. I'm sure you'll enjoy it here, i've found everyone to be really supportive.
Hi , am new just come across your post , I am 29 and I am in the boat of wondering if I am on the spectrum , I am going through issues with my son being on the spectrum an vertain similarity traits have been exposed upon myself , so any help would be great , I see you have watched a documentary will check that out thanks for your post Lucy
I agree, it's really nice to know that there are friendly people here. Thank you so much, that's very kind. At the moment i don't even feel able to think about what happened, but if i get to the point where i can talk about it, i'll head over here. Hug received x
Hi there, sometimes just to know someone is listening is enough, other times it might be a hug or a virtual shoulder to lean on. I have needed have needed both and considerably more st times, the people on here always give the most, I am not always able to advice but I can listen and at least empathise which for me has been very helpful.
Never be afraid o unload, even if no one is feeling strong enough to answer, someone will eventually see your worries and offer to listen.
you take care and here is a hug just to say”I hear you” (). X
Not that i can think of, but thanks very much for asking! x
Is there anything I can do to help? X
Thank you, i really appreciate that.
Thank you that's really kind of you.
I just got home from work,
My offer of a virtual hug is still available, please take my hug, it is given freely and with much understanding of how you must feel.
() ()()() group hug (xxxxxx),,,,x
Hi you! ......I a bit going to pry...but in your sorrow and sadness....here are many kind thoughts and lots of virtual hugs...

Is the offer of virtual hugs still available? I've lost someone very important to me.
Well done for creating such a mask! That must be useful Thank you, same to you. I'm just enjoying browsing all the interesting topics on here.
you'll find all flavours here. I come across as articulate and extraverted but I wear a mask that helps me portray a "show of normality and fitting in".....but my inner self...is a knotted ball of wool with much of what I want to say suck in my throat or not quite reaching my finger tips!
Hope all is well with you ProtectorOfTheSmall!

I collect the flotsam....odd quotes from books read, patchworked with experiences and hopes and feelings to try and stick together the sense of things.....and people also!! :)
Thanks Zatanna
Hi, I watched Chris Packham's documentary too, but I've had autism since I was little. But I know It's harder to be diagnosed later from relatives of mine. Hope you enjoy the forum.
