Possible ADHD

Heyo guys!

So, I had my feedback session for my autism diagnosis yesterday. And there was a mention of me possibly having the inattentive version of ADHD.

They were a bit awkward to pin it since I had a mental health crisis (trust me the ADHD was there well before that). I guess I'm going to have to go to the GP again... but this time with my autism report to see my options.
I'm glad I'll have some leverage this time with a formal diagnosis to back it.

I hate that Scotland is a very "it depends on you GP practice". So, I'm stuck until I get my report back unable to seek a private ADHD diagnosis since there's a chance my GP might not validate it.

  • Ah, I’m so glad it gives you clarity! That’s a huge relief.

One good news if you get the ADHD diagnosis is that there are medications that can help alleviate it. I’m currently on medication for it and it is night/day difference for me. When I took it as a kid it helped me to focus in class. Nowadays I feel like it helps me to focus during social situations, which was a HUGE anxiety-inducing problem since I struggled with noticing cues and understanding what people were saying.

That’s also great to hear that it improves your relationship with your parents.

  • Finally seen and have clarity on what caused me to suffer most of my life without an idea what it was. face exhaling

Sucks to have to do all the work myself since I'm part of the demographic that will get overlooked and have been overlooked on several occasions.

At least my relationship with my parents is better since they know I wasn't mad at them all the time. Just overstimulated and burnt out. Purple heart

  • Glizbeth,

So how do you feel about being potentially AuDHD?
