Clothing advice needed

Hi there! I am a parent of a 6 year old girl who has ? ASD/ ADD.
I am here to educate myself.

She is fixed on wearing a nightie both day and night. Often, she wears the same underwear. We wish to support her but also to find a balance with hygiene and social expectations from her peers.

Some of the reasons we can tease out are sensory, dislike of change and control. Clothing causing her meltdowns and stress. As you all probably know better than me this is hard as she is growing and needs new clothing/footwear.

I would love some advice, wise words or simply hearing from the people who may understand the best.

Many Thanks in advance

  • I agree with all the suggestions to buy multipacks of knickers, I buy myself 10 packs of knickers from the kids section in M&S in the biggest size which fit me perfectly and are really soft and comfy. I’ve always liked to go a size up in knickers so they cover better and don’t dig in at the top of my legs especially when sitting in weird positions. My daughter is also 6 her favourite thing to wear at the moment (if she has more than her knickers on!) is soft jersey dresses with cycling shorts underneath. You can get ones with fun patterns or cartoon characters on which might encourage her to wear them
