Aromanticism

Any one ever heard this b for? Aromanticism is a new word for me but I understand it perfectly.

Zero attraction to anyone.

This is something I've recently discovered about myself. Girls at school were tlaking about boys and girls they fancy and think are hot and then I suddenly realised i don't see any one in that way at all! I feel bad about that. I feel left out.

It worries me as well because how am I meant to have children and get married if Im not attracted to anyone? lol might make things awkward for me and a potential partner one day.

I guess Ill look in to it properly when Im ready to date but wondered how many people here get this.

  • Yes, I've heard about it, and I'm on the aromantic spectrum myself! Specifically, I'm demiromantic, which means I have to have a strong platonic bond with the other person before I experience any romantic attraction- as opposed to being solidly aromantic and not feeling romantic attraction at all.

    If you find you don't experience sexual attraction either you might also be asexual (as I am). I only bring that up because you were asking about having children and obviously that's the side of things that's particularly relevant, but it's something to consider while you're thinking about your (lack of) experience of attraction.

    But of course, marriage and children aren't compulsory Slight smile and if you do want those things later on you don't have to go about it the same way other people do. So it may well work out just fine!
