Bullying

Were any other girls bullied at school? I'm not being bullied but my little sis is Year 7 and she's got Downs and a girl told me she's being bullied for it. I'm not sure what to do about it. I feel like confronting the bullies but I don't want to make it worse for Holly. I won't say to the teachers because no one does that in our school, if you grass you'll be singled out later on. So I think I need to deal with it but I don't know how.

Was any of you bullied? If you could say how you dealt with it that would be a big help.

Thanks.

  • I'm sorry to hear of your sister's situation. Bullying is never a nice thing to experience and to have to deal with. There are a few options you can do.

    • Deal with it yourself.

By doing this you might make it harder for your sister as she might be ganged up on in class where you can't protect her. Also depending on how you deal with it you could get in trouble yourself.

    • Tell the teacher.

I think this is probably the best option. If the teachers know they can look out for bullying during lessons and you can keep an eye on her at break. If the bullying continues the bullies parents will be told by the staff, no kid wants their parents knowing these things.

I know telling on people isn't liked at schools but it's always the right thing to do. It's better than being bullied anyway.

If you're under the age of 19 you can contact Childline, either by calling or via online. They can advise you on how best to deal with this situation.

Hope this helped and you can work everything out.
