Mimicking

Do any of the other women here mimic the women you know and see. This is a problem I've had for years, it started at school and I still do it now. I mimic other women I suppose because I see them happy and laughing with friends or with their husband and feel like if I can be like them all that will happen for me as well.

I try to mimic their look - walk - style - in every way to be honest.

I desperately want a =normal= life but my life is far from normal. I've lost my voice and no guy pays me any attention but my sisters all are married and have kids.

  • I might mimic the odd comment if it helps me in my own life or work but haven’t done any more than that. I do have quite a good idea of who I am what I like to look like, and how I want to dress. Of course I might be influenced by a piece of clothing, but I probably wouldn’t wear it if it didn’t suit me or wasn’t the same style as my own.

Masking is different to mimicking, so maybe that’s what you are doing? So you give the pretence of being like them? I did my best to do this at school, although I never knew it was masking back then…
