Hair problems

I'm having trouble with my hair. I can't wash it. I can't touch it or brush it and because of that it's such a mess now looks horrible and untidy.

It just feels weird when I try to do anything to it. I guess it's where I'm sensitive to the touch I don't know. Water on my skin is the same.

I wasn't originally bothered by it but yesterday people were staring at me and I know that's the reason why.

But I don't know how to get over this. I've tried so many different things. Softer brushes, wearing gloves, different shampoo.

But nothing's working.

  • That is a tough one! It sounds like it is both your hands and your scalp. One or the other would be easier to work round. Might hats be a solution for going out, or can't you bear those either?

If it was just your hands then the obvious would be get someone else to do it, but I assume you can't have that either.

Shaving it off would be extreme and you might not be able to deal with that either. I cut mine very short, but that can be a problem as the little bits of hair really bother me and it is hard to not get them on me. I tried dry shampoo but didn't get on with that. I have managed to get mine to a point where it doesn't need to be washed very often, in fact it has been quite a while now since it was last washed and doesn't feel horrible any more, not sure if I am now old enough to not be producing grease so much or if it has finally adjusted to producing less.

Can you define precisely what the bad feeling is? It might take a bit of working out, but it might make a solution suggest itself. Like what is the feeling in your hands you dislike, can you touch other hair? Is it worse when your hair is greasy or clean (clean hair can feel squeaky) long or short? It sounds like you have issues when the hair is wet or dry as washing and brushing are both bad. Or does the hair feel OK when wet but just the water is icky? And the feeling on your scalp, is it the pulling, the angle of pressure, the bristles touching the scalp?

I know this might sound odd, but the thing with water, is it the water itself or the feeling of it evaporating? I like the feel of actual water, but I generally dislike the damp feel of it evaporating, unless I am very hot and use that to cool down. So I have to dry my hands very thoroughly. Is it worse for various temperatures of water or air?

When people discuss which Star Trek tech they would most like, one of my top ones is their non-water based shower, what was it now? Was it a sonic shower or what? So long since I dated that guy who was into Trek! But basically they could just walk into it and become clean with no actual effort or discomfort! That would be so useful.
