Pip advice needed

I apologize if this is the wrong place but I need a little bit of advice. I've applied for pip on behalf of my 16 year old son, he's been diagnosed with autism learning disability and BSED. I was made his appointee in March. Its been nearly four weeks since I sent the claim form in and today I received a phone call from atos asking for a bit more information as they didn't want him to have to to to a centre. Does this mean they won't require him to have a face to face assessment and will I be waiting any longer for a decision.

  • HI there. TODAY I applied for PIP on behalf of my 16 yr old son who is diagnosed ASD. They appear to be reading from a script and the amount of times they asked the same question but in several different guises, ie postcode, I was asked that 5 times, address 4 times etc. If I wasnt my sons appointee and claiming on his behalf my son would have quit after the first few questions. It felt so harsh and cold, the tone, the speed in which everything was rambled off. Forms in post to be filled and compeleted. A lengthy process where they will find any opportunity to say no or to try and catch you out as to your childs diagnosis. I say child even though he is 16 because that is still what he is a 16 yrs old with a ten year old view on the world and still dresses up as Lara croft and plays with swords and sticks and guns and bows and arrows and sonic screwdrivers, He thinks Dr WHo, James Bond and Lara Croft are real jobs you can have. So in for the long haul like so many others. Onwards and upwards one and all. Hope some of you are having a more positive experience or outcome on your PIP claims.
