GCSE Revision struggles (sorry if duplicated)

My son who is 16 is about to sit his GCSEs.

Now I am greatful that he has been able to get this far as he has had a lot of difficulties with his learning since his 1st diagnosis of ADHD when he was 6.

He also developed epilepsy at 13yr and finally diagnosed ASD at 15yr.

His school have been pretty good,  they have given a fair amount of support, unfortunately his diagnosis should have been made many years earlier but that's another story.

My son is desperate to do his exams, even though he is very unlikely to actually get grades above d/e. He has fought to stay in mainstream all his life, just wanting to be the same as everyone else. His issue is that even though it had been suggested he drop some subjects to concentrate on core subjects where he could achieve better results, he refused as he wanted to do all his exams.

We have tried to get him to revise, sitting with him, leaving him to himself, letting him listen to music, having friends over, personal one to one help..... all of which end up with him not getting any further.

He is so desperate to do the exams and do his best but it's just making him more anxious and unable to study.

He does have severe anxiety and stresses over anything & everything, I honestly am unsure if he will even managed to sit any exams.

I am at a loss as to what to do to help, he so desperately wants to do them, but if he goes to the exam and can't answer due to stress or just lack of studying, he will get distraught. I know that stress causes his epilepsy to flare and he has not had a seizure in nearly 2 years. I would really prefer he didn't do the exams but he will never agree with that.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Jam
