Are we entitled to an extra room with housing benefit?

Since my son has beeen on a reduced timetable at school and me having to give up work, we have had to apply for housing benefit. We have got the claim back stating that we are entitled to a 3 bedroom, I have twins aged 9 a daughter who is 4 and then my asd son whome is 6. Can the council expect him to share a room with his brothers? he does have his own room as we are in a 4 bedroom we had to move due to my 6 year old who doesn't sleep, keep waking my twins up in the middle of the night when he woke up and was keeping them awake, I'm just confused as to why the council seem to think he doesn't need an extra room especially with them knowing he is on high rate care component too. any help would be great

The suggestion is to contact your local authority. And detail all the problems that he has. If his health is being affected, they may get a panel to decide if he's deemed as needing an extra bedroom. If they do agree he does, then your income decides who pays for this. If you can afford to pay for the extra room yourself, you will probably be expected to. If you feel you can't, their finance team will request proof of all your families income. If they agree that you can't afford to pay, they may agree to pay the banding for the extra room.
