My 5 year old son was diagnosed asd last year and has just started reception sept gone. He has little danger awareness and is well behind in academic progress for his age. School have supplied a sen assisstant to work between 4 asd children in my sons reception year. This is not really working for my son he has not progressed at all and the teacher has even admitted they are "managing" him not teaching him so he needs his own 121 really. Anyway major incident at school today at dinnertime where he apparently put a fire extinguisher in his mouth and managed to undo the saftey pin and fire it into his mouth! thank god it was only a water 1. i dont believe he did this by himself and think some older children have done this to him! i am raging and will be in school first thing tomorrow to discuss. surely this alone is enough to warrant 121 supervision at dinnertimes! while we keep fighting for all day 121 or sen school placement? any experience of 121 battles welcome.............
