Disability Living Allowance

My son is 14 and has just been diagnosed with Aspergers.

Can anybody give me any advice on filling in the form correctly for us to claim DLA. There doesn't appear to be any specific area to fill details of him, or is it just a case of putting general details in the section that I feel sums up his different traits and symptoms?

Thanks in advance

  • To get DLA, you must focus on the help your child needs. It's no good just saying "my child can't do x" - you have to say something like "My 6 year old child can't go toilet by himself. I have to take him toilet and then wash his hands for him."

You need to explain the help your child needs, which must be more than a child of the same age. I'm sure there's guides on the main site.
