Hi my son is currently on the waiting list for an ADOS Assessment. I have been having TAC meetings with the school for about a year now, about how my son is at home, (although they have stopped as SENCO wanted to wait for a diagnosis, before restarting the meetings) because school wasnt seeing any of these behaviours in school (even tho he was going in constantly biting his chewy tube, being very quiet, biting other children) they have not been very helpful at all. Even the bahviour specialist spotted cerain "traits" such as flapping arms, biting things, pulling faces, unable to sit still etc but still school have not done anything....was meant to refer to OT last April...Still havent been refered, which is frustrating in itself.
But this past 2 weeks since coming back from christmas, my son has done a full turn around in school, the behaviours he is doing at home he is now doing in school e.g. when going into school, he is having a full on meltdown, running back to the car, throwing himself on the floor, hitting kicking biting the teachers, throwing chairs, punching, pinching, biting other children....basically everything iv tried to prevent and put in place to help him so this doesnt happen, has now happened, and the school are still not doing anything apart from telling me to speak to CAMHS. I asked for a TAC meeting with SENCO teacher Wednesday morning and she still hasnt been intouch with a time and date, iv rang up today to chase it and she hasnt got back to me.
Me and my partner are running out of ideas to help my son especially now it is happening in school and that is out of my control. My son already struggles with friendships and im worried the more he is hurting the children the more they will not play with him.
He has visual timetables at home and sensory area...He does have multiple sensory breaks at school (if they are still doing it with him), but that is about all that school have put in place with him.
Any advice would be so much appriciated.
