Right now I am sitting in the library in university trying to read up on Scottish housing policy (exciting I know) but I am finding it really hard to concentrate. I usually have my headphones in to relax me but my phone needs charged. It is everything that is going on around me that is making it so hard to get any work done. There's a car horn going off outside, constant clicking and typing and people talking and laughing. Does anyone else get this way?

  • Yes - most people do; especially those with auditory hypersentivity. But basically, your study ritual was missing the auditory component - musical insulation, and you left yourself exposed to the less musical distractions of the library, and beyond.
