I'd like some advice and informatino, if possible please.
My daughter is in Year 8 at a local comprehensive. Things are rough and I am considering applying for an EHCP. The problem is, I don't htink she is falling below her academic levels - in other words, she is achieving what she should be.
However...she has attendance of about 80%, she rareley does homework, she is highly anxious and has sensory issues. School have been sympathetic and have been helpful up to a point, but they keep saying "she seems fine at school". What they don't see is tha massive amount of effort it takes her, and how she then has meltdowns or shuts herself away at home.
I am thinking long term (post 16) which is why I am considering applying. Is it possible for a child to get an EHCP on grounds other than not meeting the appropriate academic levels? It seems that it would exclude a lot of individuals on the spectrum who are very bright. I am seriously concerned about my daughters furture at school, and if she could access extra support I would be very reassured.
Haas anyone had any experience? Thanks in advance.
