transport funding

I'm new to the role of SENCo so I'm looking for a bit of advice.

I have a year 11 pupil with a diagnosis of ASD but he does not have an EHCP. He is looking for college places for September with his family. The only course he wants to do in at least an hour away in another county. The family believe he can manage the bus journey, but are wanting help with funding the transport costs.

Is there anywhere they can apply for help with this?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Becca,

I have listed some information below which you may find useful in answering your query:

    Welfare Rights Service

They're available to offer you advice and information on what benefits you may be entitled to, general advice on completing claim forms, and what to do if you think a decision is wrong and appeal to a tribunal.

To use our Welfare Rights Service, you'll need to book a telephone appointment, which you can do by email: welfare.rights@nas.org.uk. Please include your age (or the age of the person in question), details of your benefits query, and tell us where in the UK you live. We aim to reply within 10 working days.
