Pre-School 1:1 Supervision

Hello, I really want to get my daughter into a nursery/pre-school setting as I believe it would help her massively, she is 2.8yrs and non verbal with very limited understanding.  I feel that she is becoming more and more less stimulated as time goes on just with me.  My fears however are that she would need 1:1 supervision whilst at a setting, she has no sense of danger and needs to be watched constantly.  She has not been diagnosed and is sat on a long waiting list (due to staff shortages) for an assessment, so we don't at the moment have any real help or contacts so I have no idea who to turn to or where to go to try to get the 1:1 in place.  Any ideas please? x

  • that's a really hard one. As far as I'm aware it is down to the pre school to sort a 1-1 out and they can apply for funding if they think it is needed. In my experience my son went to s pre school who was absolutely brilliant and wanted to do anything to help my son But they applied for the funding twice and it was declined but he did always get a 1-1 anyway that the pre school funded theirselves. My son has severe autism with severe learning difficulties and is completely non verbal which results in behaviour issues so he use to lash out at teachers and other children hence y they got a 1-1. They also then helped me do the EHCP and he is now at a special needs school for severe learning difficulties. I also chose a pre school that was recommended to me by other parents with autistic children so sometimes it's good to look into your area. Sorry that's probably not much help but that's my experience and I think it is all down to the Pre school and if they feel she needs it.
