Online colleges?

I did one year at college and it proved to be very stressful, I have anxiety problems and I was being bullied. I had lack of enthusasm from my family to go back to college, who (even though I was diagnosed in front of them) claim that I do not have a disorder and only lazy and miserable. I asked them many times for help with things but they are not interested so I must ask on here.

Is there any college work I can do online? either from my home computer, or even from the library at the college campus, where I don't need to be in a class and be around lots of people. I find that my only setback in college was the people in it, and I enjoyed the work. Since my anxiety and social problems are so severe, I thought it would be best to do something with computers, but I am not a computer whiz and know only the basics, so my goal is to improve on that.

Thank you!

  • Hi Wendel 1994,

Another free online course site you might find interesting is FutureLearn, which is similar to Coursera which is mentioned above by curious.  It's part of the Open University, but is free.

FutureLearn is a MOOC, which stands for Massive Open Online Course, and while they don't replace formal training sites like The Open University, would certainly appear to give you a good basic grounding on a particular subject.  I've just recently started a course on FutureLearn myself.  I did sign up for one previously, but had to withdraw due to other demands on my time.  The advantage of MOOCs is that you can withdraw easily, if your available time changes, or if you find the course isn't really what you want.
