Online colleges?

I did one year at college and it proved to be very stressful, I have anxiety problems and I was being bullied. I had lack of enthusasm from my family to go back to college, who (even though I was diagnosed in front of them) claim that I do not have a disorder and only lazy and miserable. I asked them many times for help with things but they are not interested so I must ask on here.

Is there any college work I can do online? either from my home computer, or even from the library at the college campus, where I don't need to be in a class and be around lots of people. I find that my only setback in college was the people in it, and I enjoyed the work. Since my anxiety and social problems are so severe, I thought it would be best to do something with computers, but I am not a computer whiz and know only the basics, so my goal is to improve on that.

Thank you!

  • There is the Open College Network, or for higher level qualifications there is the Open University. Your may college may have some distance learning (i.e. online) courses. For informal courses without a necessarily working towards a qualification you could look at Coursera. It certainly started off free, though I'm not sure whether there is any kind of subscription required now.
