I was having a discussion with my mum today and and I wanted to ask everyones opinion on it,
I've just finished secondary school, having been to 6 different ones (mainly homeschooling and schools for kids with mental health issues as my ASD was misdiagnosed as anxiety and depression) and having only been recently diagnosed with ASD my mum said that there's an option we could apply for a statement and I could go to a special school for kids with Autism.
My question is, should I risk going to a mainstream college, being bullied again and struggling to cope which will result in me going to yet another psychiatric unit, or should I go to a special school for kids with Autism, and wait however long to get a statement? If it helps I have a social worker so that could possibly speed up the process of getting a statement, also my mum did say that I could start at mainstream college and once I get the statement I can move to a special school and in the meanwhile if I don't like it I can always drop out. So, what do you guys think?
