I am making a toy to be used at home and in schools/learning centres which specifically caters for an autistic child's needs and helps aid them in their educational and social development. I know little about classic autism currently so it would be helpful if you could answer a few questions as I want to make the toy as successful as possible for the children.
Firstly, what toys already out there have been successful at effectively teaching classic autistic children academic and/or social skills (such as learning emotions, forming sentences, basic maths, getting on with other children etc.)?
What kind of toys are the children more attracted to and enjoy playing with?
What kind of toys are there a lack of on the market to address any area these children struggle with?
Do toys for classic autism children of any age between 2 and 5 require different health and safety standards/ precautions?
How do the children learn best? for example through a more fun environment or structured strong working environment, visually, with a teacher, with other children or by themselves etc?
Please don't feel like you have to answer all these questions but obviously the more information I could get the better success the toy will be, so extra inormation will be welcomed.
