Travelling and benefits

Hey people, My girlfriend has aspergers, apart from leaving the home with support twice a week she stays in. It has been her dream to travel to Japan and i want to make that happen. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any problems that it may cause to her benefits and diability allowance etc to be away for about 10 days or would there be any actual need to inform anybody of what she spends her money on or that she has gone on holiday at all, It just seemed ridiculous that someone that can't leave home without support be restricted from being helped experience the world

Please can anyone give any advise on how to make going out for the day easier my son dosent want at all just wants to be home all the time which makes life difficult?

Looking at the this page on DirectGov -

It looks like benefits shouldn't be affected unless a person was planning to stay longer than 26 weeks - so a little longer than 10 days :)

You might also want to search on our website for information about holidays. A lot is written with parents in mind but some may be useful.
And finally, to be certain about the situation with benefits why not get in touch with our Welfare Rights Service. I'm sure they'd be able to chat to you and your girlfriend about the situation and clarify any concerns.
