School Choices

My son is 4 years old and will be going to Mainstream/Special school this September. We have already filled in our choices of mainstream schools in the Primary school application form given by council. Now, we realise that a special school may be a better choice for us. The question is, is it possible for us to request a change in our choices or is it too late. We do not have a SEN with us but it is still in Process.

  • hiya,

its never too late for anything ! in amoungst the paperwork involved with your choices, there should be a caseworker name, give them a ring, if there is no caseworker name, there is a special needs dept within the eduction section at your local council. locally to us, our special needs school has an assessment unit for pre-schoolers, find out if there is something sim in your area. we just went thro the fight of trying to move our son from mainstream to special needs, and got the letter 2 days ago telling us we'd been successful. if you think your child will be better suited in a special school,, go for it.... it;s never too late for anything, even once they have been placed in mainstream. x
