Hi, ive recently been given access too my son after a tough divorce and i have now been told my almost 3yr old son has Autism Spectrum Disorder. I live in Oldham Greater Manchester and would like too do a course on Autism so i can really learn and understand about it. can anybody please point me in the correct direction.

I just wanted to post to share my recent experience of completing an Early Bird course. It was excellent. We have a 3 year old so who was diagnosed at 2 years with ASD. He is non-verbal, with limited cognition, a very poor eater and has many behaviourial issues that make daily life a challenge.
The course was great. Not only did it inform my husband and I about the latest autism-related theories, it offered real practical advice and support about how we could best enable our son and make family life better. Ranging from extended common-sense ideas, eating and toilet-training information, social approahces through to highly personalised models of dealing with daily issues, the course offered so much.
The course was also an excellent source of support. We met other families who shared our concerns, situation and local education / political contexts. Some of these families have become our friends.
If you get a chance to attend an Early Bird programme - I urge you with all my heart to do it. We have gained so much from it. It gave us hope that our young son though severely autistic had the chance at a full and enriched life
