Aspergers and open plan schooling

Hi, My son is 9 and will be in year 5 in September. He shows many classic aspergers traits (rigid thinking, literal thinking and social difficulties) and is in the CAMHS process for formal diagnosis.

He attends a Free School which is configured in an open plan format.

Next year the arrangements will be as follows:

One open plan floor or studio with 180 children in a mixed group of year 3,4 and 5.

They propose to group the children bby stage, not age.  Making 6 mixed age ability groups.

Each group will rotate through 3 areas of the studio each day, working with 6 teachers each day.  One area will be focussed on English, one on Maths and one on the creative subjects.

The school claim that this will enable them to provide more focussed support for each child in each area of learning.

How suitable does this kind of provision sound for an Aspy boy?  I'd really welcome your feedback.
